Batu Kawan: The Ministry of Education (MoE) is dedicated to positioning Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a mainstream education pathway by expanding strategic collaborations with industries across the country.
During the Industry Networking Forum Towards Sustainable TVET Education held at ViTrox College, Penang, students from SMK Saujana Indah, Nibong Tebal, actively engaged in hands-on activities with ViTrox Technologies Sdn Bhd staff.
This initiative highlights the synergy between education and industry in preparing students for real-world challenges.
Minister of Education, Fadhlina Sidek, emphasized the importance of equipping educators with the necessary expertise to align TVET training with industry needs. She stressed that MoE is strengthening partnerships with industry leaders to enhance TVET programmes, ensuring graduates are job-ready and equipped with relevant skills.
This collaboration reinforces ViTrox College’s commitment to advancing TVET education and fostering a skilled workforce for the future.
“Our educators must gain industry-level expertise to ensure they stay aligned with current advancements and can effectively deliver lessons, equipping students with the necessary skills for their future careers,” said Minister of Education Fadhlina Sidek.
She made this statement during a press conference following the Industry Networking Forum Towards Sustainable TVET Education at ViTrox College, Penang, on Monday.
The forum was co-organized by the Technical and Vocational Education Division (BPLTV) and the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA). Fadhlina, also a Member of Parliament for Nibong Tebal, led a one-hour discussion on the potential of TVET students under MoE through industry partnerships.
The distinguished panel included ViTrox Technologies Sdn Bhd President Dato’ Chu Jenn Weng, MSIA Honorary Board Member Dato’ P’ng Soo Hong, and Technology Depository Agency (TDA) Chairman Sim Tze Tsin.
This first-of-its-kind forum in Penang will be extended to other states, focusing on five key clusters for TVET development: programme quality, strategic collaboration, branding, funding, and institutional governance.
Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony took place between BPLTV MoE and nine strategic partners.
Fadhlina reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring TVET education remains relevant and dynamic to prepare students for the demands of the industry.
“We welcome the active participation of industry leaders in co-organizing TVET dialogue series with MoE as part of an integrated strategy to shape a progressive and sustainable future for TVET education,” she concluded.
