On February 12, ViTrox College’s Student Representative Council (SRC) organized a lively Chinese New Year Celebration for students and faculty. The campus buzzed with excitement as participants immersed themselves in traditional activities and prepared to celebrate the rich heritage of the Chinese New Year.
This festive event aimed to promote cultural appreciation and strengthen student bonds. The SRC members ensured that the event was not just a celebration but a meaningful experience that left everyone feeling closer as a community.
The celebration kicked off with a series of engaging station games, allowing participants to dive into traditional Chinese arts and crafts. Activities such as calligraphy, paper cutting, and lantern making, enabled students to gain hands-on experience with these cultural practices. Another highlight of the evening was the Prosperity Toss, which is also known as a traditional Lou Sang activity. The activity symbolizes good fortune and abundance for the year ahead. Teachers and students gathered around the colorful dish, tossing the ingredients high into the air while exchanging wishes for prosperity and success. Besides that, every participant also took part in exchanging mandarin oranges, which allows students to share good fortune and blessings with one another, further strengthening the sense of community and camaraderie.
During the events, the celebration also featured live performances by talented students of ViTrox College, from traditional dances to modern musical acts. The performances added a vibrant and entertaining touch to the celebration.
