At ViTrox College, personal development goes beyond the classroom. We believe cultivating a sense of social responsibility and hands-on learning that leaves a lasting impact on both students and the communities they serve. This commitment to holistic growth was exemplified through a series of volunteering activities organized as part of the Personal Development subject, led by our Business Studies lecturer, Mr. Jimmy.
On November 11, ViTrox College students initiated three impactful community outreach activiities, each contributing to their growth and benefiting the community.
Pertubuhan Bakti Yong Ai Orphanage
A group of 20 dedicated students volunteered and visited Pertubuhan Bakti Yong Ai, an orphanage in Kulim, Kedah. These students went above and beyond by preparing sandwiches for breakfast and helping to clean the orphanage to create a healthier environment for the children. Additionally, they raised over RM1,200 to purchase daily necessities and supplies, bringing much-needed support to the home's residents. The smiles and gratitude they received in return made this experience truly unforgettable.
SPCA Animal Shelter
The love and care our students spread go beyond just people. They extend it to animals and the environment as well.
In another initiative, 11 enthusiastic students volunteered at SPCA Seberang Perai, which is Malaysia's largest animal shelter located in Juru. Their day was filled with meaningful work, from bathing 39 dogs to cleaning and maintaining the hygiene of the shelter. The person-in-charge at the SPCA, Mr. Richard was amazed by our students’ hard work and efficiency. For many, it was an eye-opening experience, providing a deeper understanding of animal welfare and the importance of compassion toward all living beings.
Tzu Chi Recycling and Education Center
On the same day, 7 students from Engineering, Computer Science, and Business Studie joined activities at the Tzu Chi Recycling and Education Center in Bukit Mertajam. Immersed in sustainability efforts, the students learned how small actions can contribute to global environmental well-being. From sorting recyclables to understanding the importance of reducing waste, they discovered how their everyday choices can make a difference. Many expressed a desire to return, not just for academic projects but to become part of the center’s ongoing community efforts.
Through these diverse experiences, ViTrox College students are not only gaining valuable life skills, but also making a tangible difference in the community. By stepping out of their comfort zones, they are learning that personal development is not just about self-growth, but also about giving back and creating a positive impact in the world around them.
