ViTrox and JPN's Training to Empower Penang School Counselors

In collaboration with the Penang State Education Department (JPN), ViTrox Academy organized the counseling training program “Mencipta Harapan Dengan Care”, a full-day training session aimed at equipping school counselors with essential knowledge and skills to address mental health concerns, particularly suicide prevention.

The event brought together around 200 counselors from secondary schools across Penang, reflecting a strong commitment to student welfare and mental health within the education system. The program focused on empowering counselors to recognize and respond to warning signs and risk factors of suicide, implement effective intervention strategies, and facilitate navigation within mental health services.

Led by esteemed speaker Mr. Pheh Kai Shuen, the Consultant Clinical Psychologist of Pantai Hospital Ipoh, the training offered practical insights and hands-on strategies for counselors to apply in their respective schools. Mr. Pheh highlighted the critical importance of early detection and intervention, emphasizing the role that counselors play in creating a safe and supportive environment for students facing emotional or psychological challenges.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in discussions, case studies, and interactive sessions designed to enhance their understanding of mental health issues and build a network of support for students in need. The counselors left the program equipped with new tools and confidence to make a meaningful impact on their students' lives.

ViTrox Academy’s collaboration with JPN marks an important step in promoting mental health awareness and prevention efforts in Penang's education sector. The counseling training program “Mencipta Harapan Dengan Care” has set a solid foundation for continued efforts in addressing mental health issues among students, ensuring that schools have the resources and expertise to provide timely and effective support.
